There is no denying that wellness programs are beneficial to both employees and the company offering it. Healthy workers are happier and more productive, yet many organizations are missing the mark with employee health and wellbeing. Often times, programs focus too much on an employee's health outside of work rather than the stress they are feeling at work. To combat this some benefits include allowing employees to step out for a midday therapy appointment or leave a bit early to attend a fitness class. Additionally, benefits aren't aligning with employee needs. Wellness isn't a one size fits all deal and each organization should survey their people to see what benefits would be best for their population. Moreover, a successful wellness program starts at the top with leadership walking the walk. In fact, employees who feel mentally supported at work are 3 times more likely to discuss their mental health concerns with their manager and HR team. Additionally, they are 2.5 times more likely to stay at their organization for two-plus years and over 5 times more likely to trust leadership and fellow employees. So, will we see programs change for the better?
