We have heard it time and again that the pandemic flipped the workplace upside down, but one group of workers are still feeling the impact. Part-time and hourly workers were faced with a lot of uncertainty throughout the pandemic. A group that already faced irregular scheduling was forced to navigate closers and lay-offs. According to a study conducted by Paychex and Future Workplace, 85% of hourly workers said that their current schedules are impacting their emotional and financial wellbeing. 42% of part-time workers reported working fewer hours per week during the pandemic leading to feelings of stress and financial trouble. While some laws exist requiring employers to have predictable pay, there are still other actions to be taken. How will employers help protect their part-time workforce and ensure a sense of mental and financial stability?
