Summer is in full swing. The kids are on summer break, team sports are everywhere, and vacations are either underway or on the horizon. For many, it is the ultimate fun time of year. Almost everyone’s energy levels are peaking.
In this go-go-go time of year, it can be easy to forget about some of the essential safety tips that keep us healthy. Using these healthy tips during the summer will help keep your energy level and spirit up so you can enjoy every second.
Additionally, your company wellness program may include summer challenges. Be sure to take advantage of them and encourage others by including them in healthy challenges geared towards summer safety.

Hydration Hacks
- Hydrate early and often. From morning until bedtime, water is your best option.
- Use an app to remind yourself to drink more fluids.

Sun Safety
- Wear sunscreen to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays.
- Choose sunglasses with a UV400 rating to best protect your eyes.
- Cover up and take cover. Light colored shirts help reflect the sun’s rays. If you are going to be outside between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. try and stay in the shade.
The sun is a big part of what makes summer so awesome! The sun is our best source of Vitamin D, which is essential for healthy bones, your immune system and brain function.
