Angel of Lower Wacker was founded by Dr. Patrick Angelo, whose mission is to serve the unhoused community throughout the Chicagoland area. Through the kind hearts of volunteers and various partnerships, the charity provides food, water, clothing, toiletries, showers, tents and numerous other resources to help our friends in need. A Summer Purpose

As people begin to plan their summer fun and look forward to the much-needed warm weather, it’s crucial to not forget about those that will be sleeping outside this season. It can be easy to point fingers and cast blame, but compassion goes a long way when it comes to those who call the streets home.

We should always look to help a person in need, but this can, at times, be difficult or seem enabling, but what it simply comes down to is empathy and understanding. At their core, most people want to do what is right and live meaningful, productive lives, but somewhere along the road something happens, altering their journey. For some, it is struggling with addiction or mental illness and unfortunately, this can lead to homelessness. No one wants to live on the street and the uncertainty of being unhoused takes a toll on both your physical and mental wellbeing.

Caregivers and social service agencies play a huge role in assisting and providing opportunities for the unhoused community. Boots on the ground have been instrumental in combatting this crisis. We may never see the end of homelessness, but we will see positive progress.

Making ourselves available is the least we can do. So, we ask you today – help those in need. Whether it be a little or a lot – help. You may never know how much this will mean to someone or how it might impact their journey. Wishing you all a safe and happy summer!
