There is no doubt that mental health is currently at the forefront of wellness. One thing many people don't realize, however, is why some of these mental health stats are rising. The pandemic certainly played a role, but working family caregivers account for a large part of the rise in mental health concerns. In fact, caregivers are 90% more likely to feel anxiety daily compared to non-caregivers. Moreover, 1 in 5 employees is caring for a loved one at any given time. 72% of which have reported symptoms of depression. Without question, these employees deserve some help. So, how can employers better support these individuals? Breaking the stigma, equipping leaders with the right tools and creating a system of support may be the path to success.
